As for this printer, it is.meh.ok, which is about the best review I can give a printer these days. there is no scanner). Actually, I wanted to buy an HP but they seem to not have recovered from Carly Fiorina's attempt to run the company into the ground (if you vote for her you are an idiot). If you buy a multi-dsyfunctional printer.you deserve what you get. This is actually very good considering most of the printers on the market today suck beyond my ability to describe.
As such, I deserved the hell I went through with the MP620. The main thing this printer has going for it is that it is not multi-functional (i.e. Not less than an hour ago, I smashed my Canon MP620 since I was sick of it's malfunctioning BS. This printer is very much ok. I only bought this printer because I have another one just like it in the kids room that has not screwed up for a while.
It is sad when you have to look high and low to find a product that does NOT include a bunch of crap you did not ask for.

The 4600 has management to ruin every reason I wanted to use the series of printer. Severe problems with "intelligently" selecting the paper source3. Key failures of this product:1. Defective bottom paper tray which has difficulty delivering paper4.

Not to mention, the print quality is amazing for both Photos and documents. One thing I love about it is the paper tray, It can be on the bottom of the printer or in the classic position of most printers. This printer here my friends, is the best printer I've had in a while. The features are good, not the greatest, but it's compact and fast. This thing is just here to get the job done.
Excellent quality for the price. Only downside is that there is no auto power on and off feature, like older model.
Canon-branded ink cartridges for the 4200 had been costing me $12 to $14 each for the colors and small black tank. The ink cartridges hold 27% LESS INK, and you guessed it.
Get some ethics, Canon. The 4200 cartridges held 26 milliliters; the 4600 cartridges hold 19 milliliters.
They COST THE SAME as the 4200 cartridges. Furthermore, the software begins prompting you to replace the cartridges LONG before they are empty, and there is no way to disable this almost constant warning.
I had the Canon Pixma iP4200 -- worked fine until the print heads failed and regardless of maintenance routines, photos printed with horizontal lines. Now, I have the Canon Pixma iP4600 -- also working fine, but.
I don't even want to think about how much I'm going to be paying for ink every couple months.
